The aesthetics of the negative edgc pool waterfall affect would.be compromised by a fence, 71 thus the request for alternate design. According to approved plans, all portions of the west pool wall will be greater than 6 rect above grade. However, for that portion of pool wall that catches the cascading water, a trough catch basin is provided at the base of the wall. Because this trough is not permitted to contain water exceeding co a depth of 24 inches (if 24 inches is exceeded a 6 foot fence would be required, to restrict ynwanted 0 access to this pooled water area) the Architect is proposing a permanently affixed grate in order to eliminate ponding water greater than 24 inches in depth. Because the trough grate creates a M walking surface within the trough, the grate must be placed such that the distance from the walking surface of the grate to the top of the coped edge pool wall is a minimum of 6 feet --in order to meet the minimum 6 foot high wall/fencerequirement.
