RE: Plumbing Permit #2006-0028
Dear Mr. Rautenberg:
As you are aware, on September 6, 2006 our Inspector performed an inspection on the gas water heater
at your residence (work authorized under Permit #2006-0028). Unfortunately, the following li fe-safety
violations were noted and must be corrected in a timely matiner:
Gas fueled appliances are not permitted to be installed in a bathroom.
You have the following options to resolve this matter:
1. Relocate the gas hot water tank to another permitted room or area and recall for inspection
2. Convert from gas to an electric hot water tank and recall for inspection
3. Create a separate air tight mechanical room within the current bathroom area (if you choose
this option combustion air must be provided from space other than the bathroom or a sleeping
room or area that opens up into a bathroom or sleeping room).
Due to the seriousness of the violations I must insist that you choose your option and complete the
work by October 6, 2006. Lastly, the plumbing permit expired on July 10, 2006 which requires new
fees to be paid —the City shall forgo these fees at this time —provided you comply by the October 6,
2006 deadline. Failure to resolve this matter by the noted deadline shall force the City to initiate
enforcement action. If you have any questions about your options contact Michael Snook, Senior
