SITE STABILITY
The .5ubject site is most likely underlain by very -dense, fresh till soils of high slicar strength at
shallow depth. The fresh till soils have very bigh resist,"cc against slope failurcs. It is our

potcntial for landslides can be further reduced by: 1) not allowing concentrated storn)%vater it) lie

L&A Job No. SAIIS
We understand. that the proposed renovation for the subject residence will include construction Of
a concrete patio and stairways abutting the rear of the house, and that the stairways will be set
back about 30 to 3 5 feet from the crest of the steep bluff bordering the West side of the residence
site. Presented in this letter is our opinion regarding die adequacy of this setback.

resistance against slope failures. it is, therefore, our opinion if e Pro
are set back at least 20 feet from the top of bluff of slope 40% or more, they should have no
impact on the stability ofthe bluff it should be noted, however, that the foundations Supporting
the stairways should be embedded at least 6 inches into the very -dense fresh till soils.

At the request of Sean Roten this office reviewed the subject project for missed 3x plates.
m
All shearwalls may use a 2x plate with twice the anchor bolt connection per the shearwall
z
z
schedule. The contractor may opt to use the Titen HD bolts in place of anchor bolts for
these shearwalls. The #5 shearwall may use UFP 10 in place of anchor bolts. The #5

shearwall must also nail the sheathing to the rim joist at 3" on center each way.
