with this project it appears that you should designate yourselves as the general contractor. As
general contractors you are required to hire a minimum of two subcontractors for different
aspects of the project, You are also required to verify that all subcontractors that you hire are
currently State Licensed and also have City business licenses. Failure to adhere to State

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Shandil,
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the City has received a citizen complaint
regarding your building project. Specifically the complaint alleges that the original approved
addition which according to City approved plans measures 22 feet by 22 feet with a 4 foot deck
extension has been increased to 36 feet by 36 feet in size. The complaint also alleges that
plumbing and electrical work has been performed by unlicensed persons� Be advised,
homeowners may perform plumbing and electrical work on homes they own but any person you
hire for such work must be State Licensed.
The City requests inspection access for the purpose of determining whether or not the scope of
work has increased beyond the approved plans. Please contact the City Building Inspector by no
later than August I I th to schedule a day and time to meet on site to investigate the alleged
expansion of the addition. If there are circumstances beyond your control that wi It prevent you
fromf scheduling an inspection by August I I'h please immediately inform my office and propose
an altemate date for inspection.
It is'not the City's intent to cause you undue hardship however, compliance to the codes is
mandatory for the fair and equal treatment of all citizens. If you have any questions about the
