RE: Plan Check # 06-010 (#2006-0563)
Project: Korean United Presbyterian Church Gym/Education/Assembly Bldg.
Project Address: 8505 240' Street SW
During re -review of the above noted project, it was found that the following information and
clarifications are still needed. Please provide written responses to each comment as to how it has
been addressed, and where changes can be found on the plans. Please submit 2 sets of revised
plans/documents (applicable sheets only— not complete set) to Marie Harrison, Senior Permit
Coordinator.
1) Previous item #4 still not adequately addressed: Show the accessible route of travel on the site plan
connecting the public way, building entrances, accessible parking stalls, adjacent church building, etc.
Clearly note all slopes within the accessible route of travel and show locations and details of accessible
signage directing people to the accessible entrances. (previous additional non-structural comment 8).
Your response states that " The accessible route is now shown as requested. See the revised Civil
drawings." I did not find this information on the civil drawings. If it was intended to be shown
on the Landscape plan (by symbol A with an arrow, which needs to be identified), this still does
not address slope and directional signage (since not all entrances are accessible). Also, the
accessible path of travel from the main church building is unclear and based on the civil plans, the
slopes exceed 1:12 at all paths. The landscape plan also shows some of the paths as "temporary"
and "non -accessible". A temporary accessible path would not be acceptable. Please revise as
previously requested and coordinate civils, landscape and site plan accordingly.
2) Previous item 13 still needs clarification with regards to the dishwasher venting: As previously
requested, provide a kitchen equipment plan. Kitchen 110 is considered a commercial kitchen with
Commercial Cooking Appliances as defined in IMC 202. Type I and Type H hoods will be required as
noted in IMC 507. Show shaft locations and construction details. Please respond to plan review
continents by Jon Lein, Pretreatment Technician, so that it can be determined if a grease interceptor or
grease trap will be required. The grease interceptor must be coordinated with the Civil design for
utilities. (previous comment Additional Nonstructural Comment #I1). As discussed in our last
meeting, a Type II hood is required for the dishwasher, unless it mects one of the exceptions to
IMC 507.2.2 and is either an. "undercounter" type, or contains an exhaust system as part of the
dishwashing unit. If it is an undercounter type, note on the floor plans. Otherwise, note that a
Type 11 hood (which can be deferred to the mechanical review) is required and if a shaft will be
needed, show the shaft on the plans and provide shaft construction details.
3) 1 have added Type I Hood and Hood Suppression System to the deferred submittals list.
4) Clarify A5.2 and A2.2 to show that the showers in the restroom are accessible, including clear floor
space, and shower details.. Based on the size of the showers, they must be Transfer -type showers with
either a permanent or drop-down seat, grab bars, etc. See ICC/ANSI Al 17.1 Section 608
5) Sheet A2.3 still shows the area of evacuation assistance. Based on your response to previous item 18, I
have crossed them off the plans so there is no confusion.
