Dear Applicant,
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division and it was found that the
following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be addressed before review can continue:
Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Statement:
1. It appears that the ground floor could quite easily be
interpreted as an ADU. We don’t show approval for an ADU at this location in the system. Please
read through the ADU handout (enclosed) and let me know if you have any questions. Please also
turn in a “Statement on Accessory Dwelling Units” (enclosed) that has been notarized and either (1)
recorded at the County (they will charge you $32) or (2) you may choose to submit it to us directly
and we will take it up to the County to get it recorded for you ($32 + $15 surcharge = $47 fee due,
payable to the City of Edmonds). This statement will make future owners aware that they do not have
approval for an ADU. If you are interested in converting this space into an ADU, I’d be happy to go
over the criteria and the process with you.
Reduced Site Plan:
2. Please submit a reduced size site plan for the file. If there was one with this
application and I just didn’t see it, then please disregard this comment.

(affected sheets only) with a written response to each of the above items. Please make all submittals to
the Development Services Permit Coordinator (Marie Harrison) Monday through Friday, 9am to noon or
