Project: McCormick — Change of Use
Project Address: 635 Paradise Lane
During review of the revised plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Please submit written responses to the comments below, including
where changes can be found on the plans, and 2 sets of revised plans/documents (affected sheets only) to
Marie Harrison, Permit Coordinator.
Ventilation must be provided either mechanically or with natural ventilation for the proposed
office space in the storage addition in accordance with the State Ventilation Indoor Air
Quality Code.
a. Natural ventilation: Provide in each room or area at the rate 4% of the floor area.
Show the calculations on the plans. OR
b. Mechanical ventilation: Provide outdoor air at the rates specified in VIAQ Table 3-4
(based on the occupant load established for the building) to each room or area. The
system must be balanced (supply and return/exhaust). Provide mechanical plans and
calculations showing compliance. Provide manufacturer's specs for the mechanical
units to be installed.
2. Exterior exit from storage area must now be accessible. Clarify that there is an accessible path of travel
from the exterior door to the public way.
3. Note on the plans if the office will be heated. If so, specify the source of heat, provide Non -Residential
Energy Calculations, and show wall, floor and ceiling insulation.
4. Provide calculation to show that the existing concrete slab will support the interior wall supporting the
ceiling joists. Is the owner intending to use the area above the office for storage? If so, clearly note on the
plans and design the ceiling joists for 125 psf live load (light storage). If not, clearly note this on the plans
as well.
5. On detail 2/A2, specify the ceiling finish material type and thickness.
6. Window adjacent to door must be safety glazed. Please note on plan.
