During review of the subject submittal it was found that the following information, corrections, or
clarifications will need to be addressed:
I’d be happy to schedule a meeting to further discuss these issues if that would be helpful to you. The
City would like the new bathroom to be connected to the old sanitary sewer line on temporary basis so
there is sufficient time to deal with the proposed sewer changes while at the same time meeting the
building code requirements for this project. Please see item #2.
1.The water main shall not be re-routed around the sewer manhole as proposed in the submittal received May
2, 2007. Please consider the following:
a)Depending on the actual depth of the water main it may be possible to install a sewer manhole and
maintain the existing location of the water main. The cone of the manhole top could be oriented to
allow for this given proper depths of the mains. The existing water main is cast iron and would not
withstand the disturbance required to install a sewer manhole. In going this route you would be
required to replace a section of the existing water main with ductile iron. A water main shut down
would be required.
b)Would it be possible to run the sanitary sewer inside the building and connect to the sewer line with a
manhole on Dayton Street?
th
c)Could a sewer manhole be set on the sewer main that runs along the west side of 5 Ave S?
2.Is there a reason the new bathroom cannot connect to the existing sanitary side sewer on a temporary
basis until these issues are resolved?
3.If any portion of the existing sanitary sewer is proposed to continue under the sidewalk, along the west side
of the building, a special agreement will be required to allow for this and to make private ownership clear. If
there is an existing agreement for the existing sewer please provide a copy with your resubmittal.
Please resubmit 3 copies of the revised plans/documents to a Development Services Coordinator. Please
contact me at 425-771-0220 or by e-mail at mcconnell@ci.edmonds.wa.us if you have specific questions
regarding these plan corrections.
