Provide written responses to each comment and where changes can be found on the plans. Submit 2 sets of revised plans/documents to Marie Harrison, Permit Coordinator. 1. During the plan review process for the corridor remodel under permit #2006-1008, the following communication was provided between the City and architect regarding the mechanical system. This has not been incorporated into the mechanical design currently under review. The design as currently shown is not permitted per IBC 1016.4 and IMC 601.2 (also see State Amendment). A complete review will be done once the revised plans are submitted: • City Comment #7 from comments dated 1/12/07: Although mechanical is listed as a deferred submittal since the mechanical system appears to be located within the corridor (below the 1 -hour lid, but above the unrated ceiling grid system) describe on the coversheet of the plans how the mechanical system will be altered to allow for corridor protection. • Architect response to item #7 in letter dated 10/26106: 7. Mechanical system is to be under a separate, deferred permit. Please see attached e-mail dated October 26, 2006 from ACCO Engineered Systems (the HVAC subcontractor) describing both the proposed work within the corridors and the modifications required to the existing corridor construction. An expansion of ' _their e-mail is as follows: a- 'All hallway mechanical air penetrations will have smokelfre dampers insta[fed.' This statement means that wherever duct penetrations or otheropenings are made, (either for fresh air supply ducting or for return air plenum connections) rated, tested and approved smoke/fire dampers will be installed across the openings. These smokelfire dampers will be set to close upon activation of the building fire alarm system, a localized smoke detector, or the building electrical system. b.. 'All hallways penetrations associated with mechanical systems will be tire -stopped per code: This statement means that all one-hour corridor wall penetrations made by items such as plumbing tines, HVAC ductwork, line voltage electrical wiring, and low voltage control wiring will be fire stopped using a UL approved fire stopping system with appropriate F and T ratings. The Contractor is responsible for obtaining the appropriate firestopping system design relative to the proposed penetration and for review of these firestopping system designs with the City Inspector. c. 'HVAC units located above hallways walls will be relocated outside of corridor or into tenant spaces.' This statement means that because several of the existing HVAC units are located directly above the one-hour corridor walls that are required to be extend to the underside of the structure above, the HVAC units will need to be moved. At the Contractor's option, these units may be relocated on either the tenant side of the wall or on the corridor side of the wall.
