During review of the above noted application, it was found that the following information,
corrections, or clarifications are needed. Please redline plans or submit two (2) sets of revised
plans/documents (affected sheets only) with a written response to each of the items below to a
Permit Coordinator.
1) Pier blocks do not meet conventional construction. Revise plans to 12"x12"x12" poured
footings or provide calculations from a Washington State Licensed Professional Engineer to
justify pier blocks.
2) All wood exposed to weather must be pressure treated. Specify if posts and exposed framing
members are pressure treated.
3) According to the rafter span tables in the International Residential Code the 2x6 rafters at 24"
o.c. are over spanned. Add an additional 2x6 in between the existing rafters so the spacing is 12"
o.c., upgrade to 2x8 rafters or provide calculations from a Washington State Licensed
Professional Engineer.
4) Clarify on the framing plan how the roof is framed around the fireplace at the house. Also note
minimum 2" clearance to combustibles is required around masonry wood burning chimneys.
5) On the section detail show flashing where the roof connects to the house.
6) Specify size and spacing of lag bolts attaching roof ledger to the house.
