Subject: Step for Egress Window Permit 2006-1320
The applicant of the subject building permit is requesting approval for use of a step to meet the
minimum 44" sill height requirement of R310.1. The proposed step would be 2'-11 3/4" wide, 10
'/2" deep and 3" high.
Based on the information submitted and that this was an interior remodel rather than new
construction, I recommend approval for the applicant to use the step in lieu of meeting the
minimum 44" egress window sill height requirement of R310.1 with the conditions that the step
be substantially fastened to the floor and/or wall so that it can not be easily removed and that it is
at least the width of the openable side of the window.

To Whom It May Concern:
Following is a design revision for 7515 Braemar Drive, to create egress for north
basement bedroom.
Sadly the contractors did not measure correctly to account for this. There were several
other instances of mismeasurement that were costly to me the homeowner, i.e., many of
the custom doors had to be reworked to fit properly, etc.
