Project Address: 8401 Main Street
During review of the revised plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Provide written responses to each comment and where changes can be
found on the plans. Please submit revised plans/documents to Marie Harrison, Permit Coordinator.
1. The existing stairway does not meet current code as noted in my e-mail sent to Rick Brown on 5/13/07.
As a point of clarification regarding the field discussion I had with the contractor during a sheetrock
inspection, I confirmed that a 44" wide stairway would meet width requirements of the building code,
but that the existing stairway could not be extended because the existing tread depth, uniformity and
handrails do not comply with current code. I also informed him that the stair configuration must also be
approved by the Engineering Division for the drive-thru lane and that we were still waiting for revised
plans to be submitted.
2. Regarding new stair location shown at the north side of the building, submit full-size revised plans
(applicable affected sheets including site plan, floor plan and elevation views) of the new stair location
that will be the new 2nd exit from the aerobics room. Remove the non -complying existing stairway and
infill the existing doorway. Note the door size/hardware, emergency lighting Iocation, and exit sign
location. Clearly show on the site plan that the exit way will not be obstructed, such as by parked cars,
deliveries, etc.
3. Address Engineering Division comments dated 5/2/07.
