This is a courtesy letter to let you know that I am now the Planner assigned to your project at 233 3 Avenue North,
known as the Edmonds Townhouses. Both of the good folks you have been dealing with thus far, Associate Planner
Kathleen Taylor and Development Services Director Duane Bowman, no longer work here, so I am pleased be your
new contact.
It was brought to my attention that the City Council recently passed an ordinance related to the maintenance and

alteration of nonconforming buildings (ECDC 17.40.020.D.3) that could potentially allow you to keep the garden
windows that were installed at this site. It appears that all we’re waiting for at this point is for documentation from
you demonstrating how the garden windows comply with the above referenced code. Kathleen had established a
“due date” of March 20, 2009, but because this file has changed hands, I feel a new due date is in order.Please
submit the requested documentation by Friday May 22, 2009. If you feel that the project will not be able to
comply with the new code allowance, please let me know so that we can establish a workable schedule for the
window replacement.
