Dear Applicant,
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division and it was found that the
following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be addressed before review can continue:
1.Number:
Unfortunately, only one freestanding sign is permitted per site, pursuant to Edmonds
Community Development Code chapter 20.60.045.F (below). Are you planning on removing the
existing freestanding sign and replacing it with this one? Unfortunately, I cannot permit more than
one freestanding sign at this site because this site is in the Multiple Residential zone (not business or

commercial) and because the site does not have frontage on two arterial streets (Maple Street and 6
Avenue South are considered “local streets”). Please call me at your convenience to discuss
alternatives or if I can explain this further.
ECDC 20.60.045.F In all zones, each lot or building site shall be permitted no more than
one freestanding sign, except in the business and commercial zones where a lot or site has
frontage on two arterial streets, in which case there may be permitted one sign per street
frontage subject to the restrictions on area contained within this chapter.
Thank you for your cooperation. Please provide a written response to the above mentioned items. And,
please redline your plans to reflect any changes – or, if you are submitting new plans, please submit 3
site plans (one must be reduced size) and 2 sets of the changed pages of the plans. Please make all
submittals to the Development Services Permit Coordinator (Marie Harrison) Monday through Friday, 9am
to noon or 1pm to 4pm. I am the Planner assigned to this project. If you have any questions, please do
