RE: Plan Check # 2007-0481
Project: Compass Courses Maritime Training
Project Address: 110 West Dayton Street, #101
During review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Provide written responses to each comment and where
changes can be found on the plans. Please resubmit to Theresa Umbaugh, Permit Coordinator.
1. The architect has submitted a letter in response to the 6126107 e-mail correction, however the
letter does not contain all of the information requested (see attached e-mail). The bid our records
show for this project is $5438.00. The letter must state the bid amount, what 20% of the bid
equals, and the amount of the proposed upgrades to show that it is at least 20% of the bid. The
letter must also be stamped and signed by the architect.
2. The architect's letter states that the upgrade will be an accessible stall and access ramp on the
north side of Building 3 (which 1 assume is 110 West Dayton). The architect must revise the site
plan to show the new accessible parking stall and ramp, and provide ramp details on the plans
showing code compliance.

Subject: Building Division Comments #2007-0481
Warren,
During re -review of Compass Courses Maritime Training T.I., item #6 was not addressed as required by the code. As we
discussed at the counter, so that existing buildings slowly gain compliance to current accessibility codes, when
improvements are made IBC 3409.6 exception 1 allows the costs of accessibility compliance to not exceed 20% of the bid
(versus full compliance to the current accessibility codes). You will need to show on the plans what accessible upgrades
will be done to equal at least 20% of the bid ($5,438.00 provided to us). You will also need to provide a letter (stamped
and signed) stating what parks of the site and tenant space are not accessible, state the project cost and what 20%.of it
equals, list what upgrades will be done as part of this permit as well as showing that the total costs of the upgrades is at
least 20%. At the counter the other day we talked about partial upgrade of the restrooms. Please submit as soon as
possible to Theresa Umbaugh, Permit Coordinator, so that we can complete our review.
Sincerely,
Ann Bullis
