RE: Stevens Healthcare Center/Warren Medical Building @ 21727 76th Avenue West
Dear Ms. Crisp and Mr. Gardner,
The City is in receipt of your letter dated September 6, 2007 regarding the Warren Medical Building located
at 21727 76th Avenue West, written in response to City letter dated July 16, 2007 (copy enclosed).
After review of your letter, allowable area calculations, permitted fire sprinkler increases as allowed in IBC
Section 504.2, and review of the original building plans to verify floor area; the City concurs with your
analysis that the existing Type V-1 hour building can be reclassified as Type V -B construction—provided a
Standard NFPA 13 automatic fire sprinkler system complying to IBC 903.3.1.1 is installed throughout the
building. Actuation of the automatic fire sprinkler system shall actuate the building fire alarm system
notifying occupants throughout the building.
The City expects the fire sprinkler and fire alarm alteration permits to be filed by October 10, 2007 (note the
normal processing time is three weeks but the City will attempt to expedite) after the permits are issued the
City expects the work to be completed within 90 days. Occupancy for the open tenant improvement permits
shall not be granted until the complete fire sprinkler and alarm system are approved by the City Fire Marshal.
As this proposal is not a request for alternate design nor a request for modification the City is returning the
owner's check for $180.00; the City considers this proposal a revision to approved plans and the processing
fee is $100.00, due and payable to the City of Edmonds.
