Project: Fire Damage Repair
Project Address: 22517 93`d Place W
During review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the. following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Provide written responses to each comment and where
changes can be found on the plans. Please resubmit to Marie Harrison, Permit Coordinator.
Many of these items were noted in the correction notice dated 11/2/07.
1. Clearly show on the plans specifically which areas will be repaired/altered.
2. Revise written scope of work to note the specific repairs to be made in each area of the house,
garage and ADU. List all work to be done under this permit.
3. The plans you have submitted do not show the laundry room that was added within the garage.
The City also does not have permits for this room addition within the garage area. Include it
with this permit and provide construction details/information, or show on the plans that the
room will be removed.
4. Note on the floor plans if the garage will be heated or unheated (per previous discussion in the
field). If heated, provide energy calculations and provide window and overhead door U -values
that comply with the energy calculation requirements.
5. The location of the furnace and water heater shown on the plans does not appear to be the actual
location that they were installed. Revise plans.
6. Smoke detectors in the dwelling and accessory dwelling unit must be replaced. Note on the
plans.

• A building permit is required for repair of the fire damaged construction. Submit 2 sets of plans
clearly showing what areas will be repaired.
• Provide a details written scope of work of the specific repairs that will be made.
• Provide a copy of the itemized bid authorized by the insurance company for the repair work.
+ Replace f -joists that were damaged (including those that are discolored), including nailing of the
floor sheathing to the top of the new [-joists (minimum fastener spacing per Table R602.3(l)) and
blocking; OR provide repair plans/details stamped and signed by a State licensed Professional
Engineer, and the engineer must also determine which joists must be repaired per his/leer design.
• Provide pressure test for existing gas line and repair as needed.
• Replace burned or removed insulation.
• Insulate exposed heat duct in garage with RS insulation.
• Replace damaged or removed doors and windows.
• Replace B -vent and connector for water heater and furnace from single wall to double wall and
replace exposed fire damaged portion of vent in garage.
• Replace sheetrock. amd provide required fire separation between garage and dwelling.
• Obtain electrical permit for repairs from State Labor and Industries
• The owner expressed interest in having the garage as a heated space. Clearly show this change on
the repair plans, and submit energy worksheets and U -value information for overhead doors and
windows showing.code compliance.
+ Remove window opening cut into wall between dwelling and garage.
