Debbie and Sarah,
Page I of 2
I apologize for assurning that the intake material correctly noted that the addition was to be 170sf, I'! further
examined the drawings as I need to be precise when the numbers are this close regarding a detention issue.
On the A5 sheet of your currently approved plans (revision approved 11/091/07) the distance from the living room
wall to the kitchen wall is 24ft, and the distance from the living roorn wall to the dining room wall is 12ft. The
constant width is 14ft so the total size is 168sf.
On Your new submitted addition plans the distance from the living room wall to the kitchen wall remains 24ft, but
the distance to the dining room wall is 22ft. 'rhis, is the new addition, with a width of 14ft so the dining room in
now 308 sf in size. Therefore the added area is 140sf not including any eaves, these are only the rooni
dimensions. I have confirmed this with the building reviewer.
Therefore eaves will be added for 10 more feet along the east side of the house, it appears from the site plan tflat
those eaves are a 2ft overhang. This adds 20ft to your impervious surface, SO Your total impervious Surface for
this addition is 160sf.
Please adjust your calculations on the, site plan accordingly and submit a detention plan that is redesigned to
sufficiently handle the new total amount of impervious surface. As it wilt be over 5000sf, it must be stamped and
signed by a Washington State Licensed Engineer. Another option is to redesign the addition to reduce the
amount of impervious Surface added to the lot so that it falls tinder the 5000sf amount.
Please call me if II can answer any other questions.
Thank you.

JoAnne,
I talked to Sarah from Northwest Architects today, and she stated that she left a message for you
yesterday stating that the roof edge was I 0x1 4 addition, not the room. The room dimensions were
smaller. So the calculations on the site plan are correct. If you have any other questions, please let me
know.
Thank you
