Regarding the comments in Plan Review 01 by Eagle Eye Consulting Engineers, we have the
following responses:
1. Hem Fir #1 Allowable Bending Stress
Allowable bending stress of 1,200 psi used was based on older edition of Timber
Construction Manual. The 2x12 boards specified on Drawing SS -1 will still work for
allowable bending stress of 975 psi (see attached calculation sheet).
1. Pile Embedment Length
The pile embedment at equilibrium is 4 feet, with 40% added is 5.6 feet. Minimum pile
embedment of 8 feet is spec] g' SS -1 (Section 1 and Wall Elevations).
