RE: Plan Check: 2009-0537
Project: One Ballard Mechanical
th
Project Address: 610 5 Ave S.
During review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Please provide written responses as to where the changes can
be found on the plans, and submit revised plans/documents to Theresa Umbaugh, Senior Permit
Coordinator. If you so choose, you may redline the plans with your corrections as appropriate.
Thank you.
1.Please provide manufacturerÂ’s specifications for all HVAC equipment, including fire
damper.
2.Please note on the plans whether the supply air ductwork is located above or below the
double layer of ceiling drywall. It is not clear where the supply fan and the supply grille
are situated in relationship to the ceiling. Either note this clearly on the plans or provide
a sketch.
3.Show that the supply fan intake location (at the north exterior wall) is at least 10 feet
from the restroom exhaust outlets. IMC 501.2
4.The plans show some of this scope of work as being done differently than has been
described to me by Tim Linehan. Specifically, the drywall lining of the joist bays
containing ductwork over the restrooms may not be necessary as there are currently
integral fire dampers on the existing ceiling exhaust fans. Also, Tim and I had previously
discussed the option of locating the supply air grille in the south portion of the hall and
drawing the intake air from the roof of the building. (This would alleviate the need for a
fire damper as that part of the floor ceiling assembly is not required to be fire rated. It
would also provide better cross ventilation of the hall.)
