RE: Plan Check: 2009-0569
Project: Boohan Plaza
Project Address: 23720 Highway 99
During review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Please provide written responses as to where the changes can be found
on the plans, and submit revised plans/documents to Linda Thornquist, Permit Coordinator. Thank you.
1.The change from the former use of a restaurant (B occupancy) to a retail store (M occupancy)
constitutes a change of occupancy as defined by the International Building Code. Please submit
revised plans to address this scope of work. IBC 3406
2.Indicate on the plans any walls, equipment or fixtures that were removed from the previous use.
3.It appears, from visiting the site, that the parking configuration approved by the previous city
building permit has been altered. Please show on the plans that there are to be no alterations to the
previously approved parking, and restore the striping accordingly, or provide a new site plan for city
review that shows proposed changes to the parking area, including an accessible parking stall.
4.The site visit also revealed that the restroom doors are not in the same locations as shown on the
drawings. Please alter the drawings to show the doors as remaining in their current locations, or
being relocated, whichever applies.
5.The alterations require accessibility upgrades per WAC 51.50 (IBC 3409.7). On the plans clearly
show that the entire exterior and interior accessible route of travel complies with current code, or
provide upgrades per the previously referenced section. If you choose to use exception #1 of that
section, provide a letter stamped and signed by the architect (reference the code exception), stating
the overall project cost, 20% of the project cost, and list the accessibility upgrades that will be done
as part of this permit as well as showing that the total cost of the upgrades is at least 20%.
