Gurnee PO Box 3446 Lynnwood WA 98046 P: 425.231.6638 RE: Planning Division Comments for BLD-2009-0608 (Honeycutt) Dear Mr. Gurnee, th fence8400 198 Street SWRS-8 Thank you for submitting a building permit application for a at in the zone. I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division and it was found that the following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be addressed before the Planning Division review can 1 continue. Please provide a written response to the items mentioned below… 1.Height/Design: The fence is proposed over the 6-foot height limit. The portion of the fence over the height limit can potentially be considered a “trellis” if it is also “predominantly open” which is defined in ECDC 17.30.035.A.3 as referring to “a lattice work or similar decorative pattern which is designed to permit the free flow of light and air through the framework and which is designed primarily for decorative rather than privacy or security purposes.” ECDC 17.30.035.A.4 further defines trellis as, “a horizontal structure of open lattice work designed and intended to support the growth of vines or other vegetation or a horizontal decorative element composed of lattice work which admits light and air through a predominantly open design.” The decorative slats are not predominatly open. So, please revise the fence design so that that portion between 6- feet and 8-feet is “predominantly open.” If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working with you on this project.
