RE: Request for Alternate Design — Air Admittance Valve
8503 199` Place SW, Edmonds
SPT200900015, Building Permit BLD20090114
Dear Mr. & Mrs. De Genner:
GARY HAAKENSON
MAYOR
The City is in receipt of your request for Alternate Materials and Methods of Construction Equivalency
for installation of an air admittance valve at the kitchen sink in your new addition to your home located
at 8503 1991h Place SW, Edmonds. Air Admittance Valves are not an approved method of venting in
the current State adopted Uniform Plumbing Code_
The proposal is to use one Studor Mini Vent for venting a kitchen sink. The reasons stated for the
alternate venting source include issues with the grade of the existing waste/drain piping if a loop vent
is installed, and boring of the existing foundation wall for the new piping.
The request to use one air admittance valve to vent the previously noted plumbing fixture is hereby
approved with the noted conditions below.
➢ Install per manufacturer's specifications
➢ The plumbing contractor must provide you with written directions as to how to inspect and
maintain the air admittance valve. These directions shall be provided to all future property
owners.
Sincerely,
Aran Bullis, CBO
