Dear Mr. Tiegs:
We are in receipt of your request for Alternation Materials, Design and Methods of
Construction as set forth in Section 104.11 of the International Building Code, 2006
edition for use of Metwood structural products in construction of your new Single Family
Residence, specifically:
+ Metwood TruSPAN box beam.
• Metwood ThroughSPAN box beam
• Metwood Special Post and Plate
Our structural engineering consultant, Hoyt .Teter, PE, reviewed the submitted documents
for Metwood and found there to be acceptable and has recommended approval. It is my
determination as Building Official for the City of Edmonds that the use of Metwood
structural products as specified above herby approved for use as shown on the approved
plans and documents under building permit BLI320090316.

Dear Ms. Bullis:
I am requesting an alternate design to the Metwood product specified in building permit
application BLD20090316.
The supporting documentation for the alternate design was submitted on pages 135-216
of our latest submittal. Work was performed by Intertek.
The Metwood product is used and accepted through out the United States including two
current projects being built in the Steward Park neighborhood of Seattle.
