During review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Previous comments are indicated in italics. Please provide
written responses as to where the changes can be found on the plans, and submit revised
plans/documents to a permit coordinator. Thank you.

3.Previous comment: The door and relite at the entry lobby and the new windows at the
Fitness Room occur in a 3 hour rated wall and must be fire rated accordingly. Please
indicate this on the plans. Your response indicates a proposal to change the occupancy
group from S-2 to S-1. The code does not allow this re-designation, because the intended use
of the space does not meet the criteria of an S-1, and is clearly an S-2 as set forth in IBC
311.3. Further, section 509.2 does not allow a group S-1 below the 3 hour horizontal
assembly. Thus, this rationale to remove the fire rating of the occupancy separation is not
valid. However, you may wish to explore the option of non-separated uses as allowed in
section 508.3, which may accomplish the same objective. If you choose to do so, please
provide a code-based rationale that we may review for compliance.
4.Previous comment: Exterior door 019 near the elevator appears to be part of the fire rated
occupancy separation and should be fire rated, but is not shown as such in the door
schedule. Please clarify the fire rating of this door as well as the small portion of
surrounding wall. The response to this item will depend on the response to number 3 above.
