ORDINANCE NO. 3482
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, REZONING PROPERTIES COMMONLY
KNOWN AS CHASE LAKE ELEMENTARY, MAPLEWOOD
SCHOOL, SEAVIEW ELEMENTARY, SHERWOOD
ELEMENTARY AND WESTGATE ELEMENTARY FROM
PUBLIC ZONE TO RESIDENTIAL ZONING, AND FIXING A
TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, a closed record review was held on December 2, 2003, and
WHEREAS, based upon the record of the proceeding, the arguments of the parties
and the recommendation of the City's Planning Board, the City Council finds the change to be in
the public interest and in conformance with the criteria established for zoning changes by the
Edmonds Community Development Code, to wit: The properties have been used for many years
as schools and the zoning change is consistent with and recognizes not only the ongoing
character and use of the properties but also the fact that the change complies not only with the
City's Comprehensive Plan but with the School District's plan, which is incorporated in the
City's Comprehensive Plan, and
WHEREAS, the change in zoning to residential more accurately reflects the
underlying land use, the surrounding residential neighborhoods and recent modifications to City
zoning codes which make these schools appropriate permitted uses within residential, zones,
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The properties are shown on the attached Exhibit A, and incorporated
by this reference as fully as if herein set forth, are hereby zoned as follows:
Chase Lake Elementary .....................RS

Maplewood School............................RS-8
Seaview Elementary...........................RS-12
Sherwood Elementary ........................RS

Westgate Elementary .........................RS
-8
Section 2. The Community Services Director, is hereby authorized to effectuate
such changes on the City's zoning map.
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifi-
cally delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect
five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the
title.

On the 16th day of December, 2003, the City Council of the City of Edmonds,
passed Ordinance No. 3482. A summary of the content of said ordinance, consisting of the title,
provides as follows:
