1.During a review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following
information, clarifications or changes are needed. Please provide written responses as to
where the changes can be found on the plans, cloud all changes on the revised plans, and
submit the revised plans/documents to a Permit Coordinator. Previous comments that recur
on this list appear in italics. Thank you.
On page A3:
1.Pin Pile Plan Provide on the plans the pin pile installation criteria per the provided
geotechnical report. Special inspection of the pin pile installation will be required per IBC
Chapter 17/Table 1704.8. A City of Edmonds Special Inspection and Testing Agreement
(see attachment) is required to be completed and returned prior to permit issuance.
2.Foundation Plan Indicate on the plans the required size of the isolated footings supporting
the covered porch at the main entry to avoid scaling. Provide a reference to detail 10/L1
on the plans to reflect the information given in the response to the prior plan review
comments.
3.Foundation Plan Clarify the representation of the required four-36x36x7 and two-16x16x8
concrete pads or isolated footings bearing on single pin piles below the various point loads.
Typically, multiple pin piles are installed (with pile caps sized as needed) below significant
point loads that cannot be supported by questionable soils and appear on the Pin Pile Plan
to guide proper installation and inspection see the common point load below the ends of
beams B-1 and B-4 on the Pin Pile Planas an example.
