Please provide written responses as to where the changes can be found on the plans, cloud all changes on the revised plans, and submit the revised plans/documents to a Permit Coordinator. Thank you. On Sheets 4c, 7, 9, 10, and 17: 1.Section R310.1 requires that all sleeping rooms have at least one operable emergency escape and rescue opening with a sill height of not more than 44 inches above the floor. The removal of the existing 7.0x3.0 window in the north wall of the ‘Existing Attic Bedroom’ due to the addition of the adjacent garage will result in that space no longer being able to be used as a sleeping room. While the proposal to add a compliant ‘roof window’ (with the minimum 5.7 sq. ft. opening area and the minimum width and height) could be approved as a substitute, the dependence upon a platform, steps, furnishings, etc. (whether fixed or portable) is not an acceptable alternative to meeting the sill height requirement.
