During a review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following
information, clarifications or changes are needed. Please provide written responses as to where the
changes can be found on the plans, cloud all changes on the revised plans, and submit the revised
plans/documents to a Permit Coordinator. Items that recur on this list appear in italics. Thank you.
On pages 4 and 5:
1.Clarify the callout for the HDU5/SDS2.5 holdowns at each end of the braced walls along
the Lower Left braced wall line. Per the manufacturer the holdowns are unable to meet
the tension loads noted on page 8 of the provided structural calculations at those locations.
The response stated that DF studs were called out on the plans, yet no reference to DF studs
could be found at the holdown callout on page 4, in the referenced detail 5/S2, in the
General Structural Notes on page 7, or in the Framing Lumber notes, Shearwall Notes,
or Holdown Notes on page S-1.0.
2.Clarify the callout for the HDU2/SDS2.5 holdowns at each end of the braced walls along
the north-south Lower Interior braced wall line. Per the manufacturer the holdowns are
unable to meet the tension loads noted on page 9 of the provided structural calculations at
those locations. I typed the wrong page on the earlier comment letter.
