During review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Please provide written responses as to where the changes can
be found on the plans, and submit revised plans/documents to a permit coordinator in the
Development Services Department. Thank you.
Sheet 3
1.At the entry floor, detail 2/3 shows a slab on grade, where sheet 5 shows a framed floor
over a crawl space. Please clarify the construction on the plans.
2.On the foundation plan provide a foundation vent to allow cross ventilation of the crawl
space under the entry.
3.If the entry is to be a slab on grade, show rigid R-10 insulation on either the interior or
exterior of the foundation wall to comply with the Washington State Energy Code.

4.Show a graspable handrail at the deck stairs and the entry stairs. Provide dimensions to
show the height of the handrail and cross section size.
5.Add a note stating the type of heat in the new office.
6.Show smoke alarms in each bedroom, in the hallway serving the bedrooms, and at least
one on the lower level. The smoke alarms must be hardwired and interconnected where
there is access for wiring such as in an attic or crawl space.
7.Show a carbon monoxide alarm in the hallway serving the bedrooms, and one on the
lower level.
8.Show on the plans a porch light at both the front and rear decks providing illumination
for the top of the stairways.

9.On the Floor Framing Plan, the callout references detail 4/5, however detail 1/5 seems to
be more applicable. Please revise as necessary.
10.Label the cantilevered 4x10 beam at the top of the deck stairs.
11.Provide structural calculations for the 5¼ x 14 PSL at the workshop.
12.In detail 7/5 provide additional stair stringers or add a mid span support for the outer
stair stringer.

13.Provide ventilation for all vaulted rafter bays per IRC 806. See details on sheet 6 and
sections on sheet 8.

14.Show on the plans how the lateral bracing of the existing east kitchen wall will be
maintained, or otherwise meet the provisions of IRC 602.10 for wall bracing within that
grid line.
