Our review of the permit application materials & drawings is now complete. The following
items should be noted as Conditions of Permit Approval:
The most recent drawing set submitted for review was a partial set only. This partial
set will need to be incorporated into the most recent complete drawing set that was
submitted for review/approval. I have incorporated and consolidated drawing sheets

for the drawing set that I am approving. You will need to do this for the 2 drawing set.
Reference sheet A2.02A, Hallway 226. This is provided by the architect as an
Alternate Method to emergency escape and egress openings required for loft sleeping
rooms for Units 101, 102, and 103. The architect indicates that (2) duct shafts cross
Hallway 226 and that at these locations the ceiling height is only 7’-0” (not 7’-6” as
provided by the code; 1208.2). Please confirm your acceptance with this approach.
Redlines should be transferred to the second set of approved drawings. Redlines can
be found on the following sheets:

Fall arrest devices (8/A5.51) and anchorage to the roof structure

The Engineer of Record (EOR) shall be responsible for reviewing design drawings and
calculations for compliance with the design criteria and compatibility with the design of the
primary structure, including review of all connections to the primary structure. The EOR
shall review the submittal prior to providing it to the City for review. The submitted
documents shall bear the shop drawing stamp of the EOR.
The Specialty Structural Engineer (SSE) shall provide drawings and calculations for the
deferred design submittal to the EOR for review. Design shall conform to loading &
deflection criteria as required by the 2012 IBC. Drawings and calculations for deferred
submittals shall be designed by a structural/civil engineer licensed in the state of
Washington. Deferred submittals shall be stamped/signed by the SSE and shall include
all material requirements and manufacturer literature.
Special inspections are required on this project as specified within the structural
drawings: shotcrete, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel, and steel fabrication &
erection. Reference the Structural General Notes.
Geotechnical inspections (Robinson Noble, 425-488-0599) are required as
recommended by the geotechnical engineer in their report Geotechnical Engineering
Report, Edmonds Post Office, Edmonds, Washington for Edmonds 2020, LLC
(January 2014), Page 10.
Provide observation and consultation services during construction to confirm
o
that the conditions encountered are consistent with those indicated by the
explorations, and to provide recommendations for design changes, should the
conditions revealed during the work differ from those anticipated.
Evaluate whether or not earthwork and foundation installation activities comply
o
with contract plans and specifications.
Geotechnical and structural observation/testing/inspections for temporary shoring
(Ground Support, 425-376-0177) are required as outlined in the Temporary Shoring
Wall Plans provided by Ground Support.
Recorded easement agreements are required to be submitted where any construction,
including soil nails and anchors, extend across the property line for this project.
Copies of the recorded easement agreements are required to be submitted to the City
of Edmonds prior to permit issuance.
