Response to Comment Letter dated September 23, 2014
Attn: Chuck Miller
1. Clarify the required type of fire resistance rated construction to be used to
separate `suite 100' and `suite 200'. Each of the different types listed in Chapter
7 of the IBC (fire walls, fire barriers, fire partitions, etc.) have different
purposes and requirements for their placement and construction, such as
creating fire areas or separating known occupancies.
Please see sheet ALO, for revised detail #3 shoving the existing occupancy
of suite 200 (ATT store- M occupancy) and the future use of suite 100
(future restaurant- A-2 occupancy). We are Providing a separation of the
occupancies Per table 50844; A-2 to M requires a 2 hour rated fire barrier.
2. Provide a listed assembly determined in accordance with the test procedures set
forth in ASTM E 119 or UL 263 for the `2 Hour Rated Wall' to be constructed
between `suite 100' and `suite 200' to guide proper review, construction and
inspection. It should include the framing member type and their spacing,
gypsum wallboard type and `offset' or `stagger' of layers, required fasteners and
their spacing and other installation criteria.
Please see revised detail #3 on sheet AI.O. The detail calls out for GA file
no. WP 1522 to be used.
