During a review of the plans by the Building Division for the above noted project, it was found that
the following information, clarifications, or changes are needed. A complete review cannot be
performed until the revised plans/documents, including a written response indicating where the
clouded or otherwise highlighted changes can be found on the revised plans, have been submitted
to a Permit Coordinator. Reviews by other divisions, such as Planning, Engineering, or Fire, may
result in additional comments.
On sheet 1:
1.Roof Plan Indicate on the plans the required structure to support the lower end of the east-
facing roof rafters to guide proper review, construction, and inspection.
On sheet 2:
2.Framing Cross Section
a.Clarify the callout for the ¾-inch diameter threaded rod to be used as anchorage for
the ABA46Z post base. It is greater than that specified without modifying the post
base, which is prohibited by the manufacturer.
b.Clarify the callout for the for the pressure-treated hem-fir premium grade 4x10
beams to be used to support the roof loads. They appear to be over spanned, fail in
bending, and deflect beyond that allowed per IRC Table R301.7, even when
calculated without the PV panels see attached.
c.Indicate on the plans the required blocking between each of the rafters per IRC
R602.10.8.2.
