Project Address: 18605 88th Avenue W.
During a review of the plans by the Building Division for the above noted project, it was found that
the following information, clarifications, or changes are needed. A complete review cannot be
performed until the revised plans/documents, including a written response indicating where the
'clouded' or otherwise highlighted changes can be found on the revised plans, have been submitted
to a Permit Coordinator. Reviews by other divisions, such as Planning, Engineering, or Fire, may
result in additional comments.
Sheet A2
I . Metal Connectors, Note 2 — the code reference is listed as IBC section R602.3 (1), but that
code section is actually from the IRC. Please revise.
2. Plywood and Diaphragm, Note 1 — similarly, the IBC reference is actually an IRC reference.
3. Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarms, Note 2 — Please revise this language per IRC R314 as
amended by the State of Washington. This section does not refer only to new construction,
and battery operated smoke alarms are restricted.
4. Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarms, Note 4 — Please revise this language per IRC R315 as
amended by the State of Washington. This section does not refer only to new construction.

5. Please show the locations of the smoke/carbon monoxide alarms on the plan set per IRC
sections 314 and 315.
6. Please correct the references for the sections cut through the floor plan. In addition, provide
all of the sections referenced or delete those deemed unnecessary.
7. Install the engineering lateral design into the floor plan. As of this review, there is no
correlation between the shear wall schedule and the floor plan. If each of the walls
accounted for in the lateral design are to be SW- 1, please indicate that on the floor plan by
labeling each wall or with a note. In addition, designate which walls are shear walls with
shading or hatching.
8. It appears that the whole house ventilation exhaust fan is proposed to be located within the
laundry room. Please specify that the timer must be set to operate 2 hours, 45 minutes per
each 4 hour period, 24 hours per day per IRC M1507.
Sheet A5
9. The structural calculations show that the garage door header is to be a 4x 12 DF#2 or better.
The plans show a 4x 10 DF#2. Please revise.
10. The beam over the garage is specified as a glue -laminated beam with a depth of 11.875
inches. Typically, glue -laminated beam depths are in multiples of 1.5 inches. Please clarify.
11. It appears that the rafter used to head off the perpendicular rafters at the rear right of the
building is overstressed as shown. Please verify.
12. It appears that the floor beam calculations do not include all of the loads acting in the worst
case. This calculation should include floor, wall and roof loads. Please verify.
