Please provide the requested changes on the plans, and submit revised plans/documents to a permit coordinator in the Development Services Department. Thank you. 1.Indicate on the plans the required insulation in the new exterior walls and ceiling as follows, as required by the Washington State Energy Code (WSEC): a.R15 in 2x4 exterior walls b.R21 in 2x6 exterior walls c.R38 in vaulted ceilings d.R49 in attic 2.The energy code requires an additional “one-half energy credit” for your project since it involves newly conditioned (heated) space. Energy credit options are listed in WSEC table 406.2. One potential option to achieve the energy credit would be to upgrade a gas water heater from standard efficiency to a “direct vent” water heater. 3.Is the water heater shown in the space adjoining the new bedroom gas-fired? If so, it must be isolated from the bedroom space to prevent an air quality hazard to the occupants of the bedroom. There are several options as to how to address this, but one potential option might be to install a “direct vent” water heater, which would not pose the same hazard.
