Subject: accessory office structure
Follow Up Flag: Follow up
Flag Status: Flagged
This email is intended to serve as a summary of our conversation on Thursday, December 10, 2015 regarding the proposal
to construct a structure to be used as an office. It will be in addition to the two existing structures used as day care
facilities.
Any proposed structure must be capable of supporting a 25 PSF snow load and resist 85 MPH (3 second gust)/110
ultimate wind loads (seismic loads would not likely govern the lateral design for such a small structure). If using a pre-
fabricated structure, provide materials from the manufacturer indicating the design criteria.
The structure is required to be supported by a foundation that extends a minimum of 18 inches from the bottom of the
footing to the undisturbed ground surface. The structure must also be connected to the foundation sufficiently to transfer
the lateral loads to the foundation using anchor bolts or by other approved methods. Using a slab -on -grade with thickened
edges may help to keep the floor height to a minimum, lessening the need for a ramp.
The location of the proposed structure on the lot may require portions of it to be of fire -resistance rated construction
(typically those portions within 5 feet of the property line).
The structure must be heated, accessible, and on an accessible route.
These comments are not intended to be a complete review. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if I have
left something out.
