A Krazan geotechnical representative visited the project site today to monitor shoring wall construction.
TemporarN, Shorin2 Wall — Soldier Piles Installation
We observed the shoring wall contractor, Pile Contractors installed soldier piles E2 and E 10 along the eastern
alleyway. The soldier pile borings were made with a 30-in diameter auger. The soils encountered generally
consisted of brownish gray silty sand with gravel and trace clay and, gray sand with silt and gravel. We also
observed groundwater seepage at depth of 27-ft.
After the contractor completed drilling the soldier piles to the planned depths and cleaned the bottom for loose
soils using a clean up bucket, designated steel shafts (1-beams) were then placed to its planned elevation. Due
to the presence of groundwater, line pump and tremie pipe were used in discharging the controlled density fill
(CDF) in the lower half portion of the soldier piles. Also, a sump pump was used to reduce the accumulated
groundwater before filling the upper half portion of the soldier piles with CDF. The upper half portion of the
soldier pile was then filled to about 2-ft below surrounding grade using the concrete truck's chute.
The approximate depths of the soldier pile borings and groundwater arc as follows:

The contractor ordered about 18 cubic yards of CDF from Miles — Everett Plant. Listed below are the

2. 1 lCDA10: 9 cubic yards —upper half portion.
In our opinion, the soldier piles that we observed today have been installed in general accordance with the
approved shoring plans.
To the best of my knowledge, the above WAS perfortned to approved plans and specifications.

Temporary Shorine Wall — Soldier Piles Installation
In the morning, our project geologist, Mr. Jeffrey League monitored the drilling of soldier piles El 3, El 5 and
E17.
At the time of our arrival, we observed the shoring wall contractor, Pile Contractors, drilled soldier pile E 19
and installed soldier piles E13, E15, E17 and E19 along the eastern alleyway. The soldier pile borings were
made with a 30-in diameter auger. The soils encountered generally consisted of brownish gray silty sand with
gravel and trace clay and, gray sand with silt and gravel. We also observed groundwater seepage at depths of
22-ft and 24-ft.
After the contractor completed drilling the soldier piles to the planned depths and cleaned the bottom for loose
