Re: Special Inspection — 18305 73 rd Avenue W, Edmonds, Washington
Permit No.: BLD2017-0865
Dear Ken -
I have performed the special inspection of the installation of the push piers per ICC ESR-1 854 for
the above -referenced project.
Push Pier - Installation
The push pier used for installation was a 2-7/8" diameter pipe using a 3-1/2" Dual Bore Cylinder
System with a working area of 16.27 square inches.
The maximum push pier axial load requirement for this project is 15,000 lbs working load (30,000
lbs ultimate). The piers were driven to refusal at depths of 3 — 22 feet with a minimum installation
pressure of 3,000 psi. This results in an ultimate axial capacity of 48,810 lbs, exceeding the
required ultimate load per the design documents. Piles 2-4 were driven to refusal and those piles
that were driven to less than 10 feet as specified in the design are acceptable as there is no uplift
or tension forces on the piles.
Summary
Based on my special inspection and structural observation, the push piers were installed
according to the engineering design load requirements and according to ESR-1854.
Please give our office a call if you have any questions or need further assistance.
