Cover Letter Regarding Tree Removal
Dear Chris Rivera and City of Edmonds,
Enclosed with this letter are an explanation of what happened and also the items pertaining to the
CORRECTION REQUIRED notification for tree removaf at 19903 82"d Place West dated November 11,
2017: a) arborist report; b) site plan; c) right of way permit for trees removed. Additionally, I have
included some pictures of the trees. In the windstorm on November 13, 2017 a large tree in our yard
was blown over. We asked two different tree removal services to help us with this problem. They both
also indicated that two other trees (the same two trees) were very dangerous and could also come
down in the next windstorm because they had been topped, broken off and then had grown new tops
(before we bought the house) and were rotten, having large holes in the split joint sections of both trees
(see report and pictures enclosed). The tree service company removed the two trees on Monday
November 20, 2017. We were unaware that we should get a Right of Way permit to remove dangerous
trees from our yard and were trying to protect our house and the neighbors' houses in agreeing to the
removal of these two trees. They also indicated that there is one more tree which is also unhealthy and
should be removed but there is no plan to remove it at this time. If we have it cut, we will get an R.O.W
before having it removed. The two trees in question are situated (see site plan) nine feet away from
the fence (between our yard and the neighbor in back of us) and twenty-one feet away from the fence
respectively, measuring from the fence to the middle of the trees. The east edge of the tree twenty-one
feet from the fence is just more than twenty feet from the fence so I am unsure if it is even on the
easement. The tree which was twenty-one feet from the back fence was right at the edge of our fence
to the neighbor to the north and the tree which was nine feet away from the back fence was 17 feet 7
inches south of our fence with the neighbor to the north. These positions are indicated on the site plan.
There seems to be no online form called R.O.W. for tree removal (only for building) which is printable to
use for this report. I am hoping someone at the City of Edmonds office will help us with this.

The two diseased trees on your property were significantly decomposed due to their state of
deterioration. and rot. The trees posed a significant threat and danger to safety when observed. The
trees were removed to avoid any threat of harm to property or life.
