Hello John,
In response to your question, panic hardware would not be required on the door opening to the
corridor if it is intended as the main door as stated in IBC 1010.1.9.3. If panic hardware is not to be
installed items 2,2.1,2.2, and 2.3 also apply. Please let me know if I can be of any additional assistance.

Hi Chuck,
Thanks for approving the permit for the church project # BLD2018-0037 -
Chinese Grace Evangelical church.
The church people are working on the remodeling now. We want to confirm with you
one more time that the new door in red will be the main door and doesn't require a panic
hardware per IBC 10 10. 1.9.3.2?
The existing door in yellow will remain its existing panic bar and hardware. We want to
make sure we comply everything during construction.
Please confirm.
Thanks,
John

Once the amount of airflow to the dining room is determined you will need to know the percentage of
'outside air' that is being 'mixed' with the return air during heating and cooling. Economizers,
dampers, and other equipment and their settings may have an effect on the amount of 'outside air' that
is part of that measured.

Morning Chuck,
Hope you had a good weekend.
Regarding #7 comment, how about if we measure the air flow by using a Digital
Anemometer? this way we can measure the actual supplying air at the supply outlets
serving the rooms and no more guess work. Then we can compare data to the
required number from IMC Table 403.3. 1. 1.
Do you think this method is acceptable to you?
Thanks, appreciate your help.

0 #1 — The 'lighting power allowances' allow for incandescent bulbs so the existing fixtures will
probably be OK if they have fluorescent bulbs (unless there was way too many fixtures in the first
place). Switching to LED bulbs will always comply.
0 #7 — Not really of much help. The unit must have a separate air handler (fan) to move the heated
air. First, you will need to know the capacity of the air handler and how it is distributed through the
structure by the different connected ductwork. The air handler is configured to add outside air to the
return air as it becomes the 'new' supply air. The total capacity of the air handler and the portion of
the ductwork serving the 'Dining Area' needs to be sufficient to meet the additional occupant density
of that space determined using IMC Table 403.3. 1. 1.

Hi Chuck,
Thanks for your time discussing the comments with me on Wednesday.
We are now working on the responses, and we have questions on #1 and #7:
#1 - We are still calculating the lighting table. The question is if the existing
fluorescent lights are over the allowed value, will just changing
the fluorescent lights to LED be suffice? The church is still planning to not
change any fixtures due to the budget.
#7 - We found spec info of the existing air furnace that is serving the level 1.
Please see attached image, will this information be suffice? If so we can
attach this info as part of the response.
Thank you again for guiding the church through this review process.
Appreciate it.
