The following is the response to your plan review comments for Jacksons Food Store plumbing
dated 5/18/2018.
Sheet P 1.0 — FLOOR PLAN — WASTE & VENT, LEGEND, NOTES & SCHEDULE:
I . Clarify on plans the represented placement of the water heater serving the lavatory in
restroorn. It does not appear to meet maximum pipe length per (WSEQ Table 404.3. 1.
An instantaneous water heater has been added. See Schedules on sheets P 1.0, & P2.0 and
drawing P2.0.
2. Waste & Vent Riser Diagram — Change on the plans the number of WHU (drainage
fixture units (DFU) in the Uniformed Plumbing Code (UPC) entering fixture 'GT/1' from
'17' to '6'.
WFU has been revised to '6' WFU, see sheet P 1.0 'FLOOR PLAN — WASTE AND
VENT'.
3. Grease Trap Calculation
a. Change on plans the adopted code regarding the sizing of the grease trap from
'OPSC 2014' to 'UPC 2015'.
Code reference has been revised, see "GREASE TRAP CALCULATIONS"
schedule sheet P1.0.
b. Clarify on the plans the difference in the indicated size of the 3-compartment sink
bowls used to size the grease trap and of that noted on the provided manufacturer
information.
The 3-compartment sink bowl dimensions have been revised and calculationa
adjusted to match, see GREASE TRAP CALCULATIONS" schedule sheet P 1.0.

Capacities and grease trap manufacturer and model number have been revised to
the Schier # GB 1. See GREASE TRA P CALCULATIONS" schedule sheet P 1.0
and "PLUMBING FIXTURE SCHEDULES" sheets P 1.0 and P2.0.
4. Backflow Preventer Notes
a. Note 3.0 — Change on the plans the name of the state regulating the proposed
work from 'Oregon' to 'Washington'

i. Change on the plans the adopted code regarding the installation of the

note '1' regarding the provision of a reduced pressure backflow preventer.

b. Mark '17' —Fountain Machine —Add to the plans a callout to note "I' regarding
the provision of a reduced pressure backflow preventer per UPC 603.5.12.

SCHEDULE' sheet P 1.0.
Mark '19' — Remote Condenser — Eliminate frorn the plans the callout to note 'I'
regarding the provision of a reduced pressure backflow preventer. There does not
appear to be a need for cross connection control at the fixture.
Per the 2015 UPC paragraph 814.3 'POINT OF DISCHARGE' —'Air
conditioning discharge shall connect indirectly to the drainage system through an
air gap or air break'. Since these units do not have a water connection they are
not listed for cross connection control in chapter 6. They do require a waste cross
connection control.
Note # I in the 'PLUMBING FIXTURE SCHEDULE' has been revised to read
'PROVIDE REDUCED PRESSURE BACKFLOW PREVENTER, OR AIR GAP
AS REQUIRED FOR CROSS CONNECTION CONTROL SEE SCHEDULE'.

callout to note '1' regarding the provisions of a reduced pressure backflow
preventer per UPC 603.
The 'Fast Draw Chemical Management System' has an internal air gap fitting
meeting the requirements of ASSE 1550 that provides the required backflow
protection. See attached manufacturers literature for ASSE rating.

i. Connection size — Waste — Clarify on the plans the difference in the
indicated size of the waste connection serving the grease trap and of that
noted on the provided manufacturer information.

The grease trap manufacturer on the plans has been revised to Schier #
GB I and sized for 20 GPM at 70 lb. grease capacity meeting the flow

CALCULATION' and 'PLUMBING FIXTURE SCHEDULE'sheet P1.0.
Sheet P2.0 — Floor Plan — Domestic Water, Notes, Schedules & Detail:
6. Floor Plan — Plumbing
a. Extend on plans the 'leader line' for the item marked '32' — Water Filtration
Systern' to the location on the plans represented as supplying the filtered water.
The leader has been adjusted as much as possible to clarify the 'item it is referring
to. Please note that the water filter is mounted directly above item '3 1' so visually
separating the two leader call outs and still pointing to the items has been done
with the space available.
b. Provide on plans information on the 'PLUMBING FIXUTRE SCHEDULE'
regarding the fixt1ire marked 'I 6'Additional plan review note: The item marked
'16' on sheet 'P 1.0' is identified as 'Open Air Display Cooler ' on the
'PLUMBING FIXTURE SCHEDULE' and appears to be different than that
represented on sheet P2.0
Fixture '16' has been added to the 'PLUMBING FIXTURE SCHEDULE' on
sheet P2.0. The location of item '16' has been coordinated with both sheets P 1.0
and P2.0 and fixture item 'I I' has been added to both schedules and coordinated
on drawings. See 'PLUMBING FIXTURE SCHEDULES' sheets P 1.0 & P2.0
and floor plans.
