The purpose of this letter is to address comments received from you on May 18, 2018 regarding the
aforementioned project. For your convenience and to expedite the review and approval process, your
originalcomments are included and our responses are provided in BOLD.

1. The plans indicate the wine cellar as "unheated" space. The proposed door to the wine cellar
must comply with Washington State Ënergy Code R 402.2.4. Please add the applicable notes to
the plans.

Response: note added to both doors (and cloudedf on Sheet A3, lndicating 20 min rated, self-
closing doors for both wine cellar and shop.
2. lt is unclear if the proposed shop will be "conditioned" spâce. lf this space is to be conditioned,
please note on the plans. lf the space is not to be conditioned, the doors leading to the
conditioned space will be required to comply with R 402.2.4 as mentloned in item 1..

4. The 2x10 Ht #2 PT joist that are supported by beam 5 are over spanned for the proposed
conditions. When sizing your framing members, be sure to use both the incising and wet service
factors in addition to the minimum of 60PSF of live loading as required in table R301.5.

S. The plans indicate gas fireplaces to be located in bedrooms 2 and 3 as well as the master suite.
IRC 315.3 require a carbon monoxide detector to be installed within each bedroom with a fuel
burning appliance. Please add the required detectors to the plans.
