During a review of the plans by the Building Division for compliance with the applicable building codes, it was found that the following information, clarifications, or changes are needed. Reviews by other divisions, such as Planning, Engineering, or Fire, may result in additional comments that require attention beyond the scope of this letter. A complete review cannot be performed until the revised plans/documents, including a written response in itemized letter format indicating where the ‘clouded’ or otherwise highlighted changes can be found on the revised plans, have been submitted to a Permit Coordinator. Resubmittals must be made at the Development Services Department on the 2nd Floor of City Hall. Permit Center hours are M, T, Th, & F from 8am-4:30pm and from 8:30am-12pm on Wednesdays. General Note: 1. Indicate on the plans the requirement for controls to shut off the heater without adjusting the thermostat and a timer to automatically turn off and on heaters and pumps on a preset schedule or a built-in timer to do the same per ISPSC 303.1.1 and Washington State Energy Code (WSEC) R403.10.2. Additionally, indicate on the plans how the spa will comply with the energy consumption requirements of APSP 15 on the plans. 2. The plans do not appear to indicate the requirement for the vapor retardant cover as required by ISPC303.1.3 and (WSEC) 403.10.3. Please provide the applicable information on the plans. It is noted that an automatic cover is to be installed as indicated on page A-1, section A-A and typical vault section a, detail #672. Is this cover the means to be used to meet the barrier requirements of ISPSC 305? A cover is required for outdoor heated pools per ISPSC 303.1.3/WSEC R403.9.3 may also be used to meet the requirement if it is also provided for the spa, is lockable, and complies with ASTM F 1346. Please indicate the spa cover requirements on the plans. 4. The plans do not appear to indicate the temperature limitation of 104 digress Fahrenheit as required by ISPSC 507.1 Please indicate this requirement on the plans. 5. The proposed boiler is noted at 400k BTU’s this boiler will require a separate permit from Washington Labor and Industries. The permit will need to complete prior to finalization of the building permit. Please let me know if I can be of any additional assistance. Eric Carter
