Hi Phil,
Were you able to find the right information for the intumescent product? Did you have any questions for me? FYI, I will
need to update my plan review status soon, as I can’t leave my review “open” indefinitely. Let me know, thanks.
Leif

Hi Phil,
It looks like this product might work. I need you to provide the actual UL listing for me, which will take a bit of digging on
the UL website. The listing includes things like approved applications, installation info, third party inspection
requirements and more. There are several avenues to check out that I didn’t have time for. Here are a couple of screen
shots which will show you how far I got on http://productspec.ul.com/details.php?ccn=CDWZ.

Phil,
Follow the links to the Design Nos. for the Albi Clad TF above. I think they will provide the relevant information.
Please ensure that the structural members receiving the coating are addressed in the listing. Hope this helps.

Hi Leif-
Attached is documentation from another manufacturer of intumescent coatings. On page 2 of the product brochure is
specifies the application can be on any exposed structural steel (highlighted). The second document is the detailed
specification.
If the subcontractor suggests another product I’ll ask for the documentation and submit to you if you would like for
approval.
Let me know if any other questions. Thanks for your help in approving our permit!

Hi Phil,
I have received your response to my comments regarding the intumescent coating proposed on the chapel project. I
have read through the SDS sheet for FLameOFF, which references ESR-3874 and ASTM E-119. ESR-3874 appears to be
specific to only wide flange steel columns, and not applicable to the types of roof assembly members found in the chapel
construction. You will need to find a different product, or different listing for the product, that specifies the type of
members in question. Or you may want to consider obtaining an engineering analysis (engineering judgment), as
allowed by IBC 703.3 #4. I can leave my current project review “open” for a few days if you would like to provide a quick
response to this issue. Let me know if you would like to discuss.
Thanks,
Leif Bjorback
