Contractor excavated for placing consecutive layers of geogrid in accordance with plan and geotechnical engineer recommendations. Contractor had correctly laid out the geogrid in the strength direction at the grades indicated on the plans and was reading to cover the first layer of geogrid. TGG engineer reminded contractor to place thin layer of rock between geogrid layers at corners. TGG engineer verified compaction method (3 or 4 passes with the plate compactor) on loose lifts no more ihan 4 inches to achieve the recommended compaction of the reinforced zone. Contractor has cornpaction equipment on site and began compacting lowermost geogrid layer on lower terrace. Contractor had prepared leveling course for the new wall north of the planter area at the south end of the lowerterrace.
