Notes:
The test resulted in an acceptable SLA of 0.000221 (limit is 0.00030) and an acceptable air
change rate AC50 of 4.346 (limit is 5.0).
Flow was noted at the electrical outlets and light switches. Leakage was also noted at the wall
heater and through the light openings.
Because compartmentalized testing was accomplished, it is reasonable that a percentage of the
leaks are from the adjacent units.

Compartmentalized Testing
Testing of a single unit with a single fan allowing for leakage through both
exterior walls and adjacent interior conditioned spaces. See Figure I below.

Test Checklist
Close all windows, doors and fireplace and stove doors.
Close all dampers including exhaust, intake, make-up air, backdraft and flue
dampers. Since you will be depressurizing the house, dampers in bath fans, etc.
will be sucked closed during the test and will therefore not negatively affect the
results.
Notes- The range hood was not sealed beyond the barometric damper. Both
bathroom exhaust fans were sealed. The drier vent was attached to the drier
and not sealed.
Make sure plumbing traps are filled with water.

Z Leave doors between heated areas open.
Z Open access hatches to conditioned attics and/or conditioned crawl spaces.

Z Seal exterior openings for continuously operating ventilation systems and heat
recovery ventilators.
Notes- The through wall heat pump did not require sealing.
Z Turn off heating and cooling systems but do not seal supply or return registers.

Adjust all combustion appliances so that they do not turn on during the test.
Z Install the blower door in an exterior door opening and connect hoses from the
manometer to the blower door fan and the exterior pressure tap. See
manufacturer's instructions for correct set-up.
Z Depressurize the house to -50 Pascals.
