OR 97211 ph 503 2817515 fax 503 2817579 As requested, on June 27, 2019, Mayes Testing Engineers performed load testing of hold-down anchors at the above referenced project at 18111 84th Avenue West in Seattle, Washington. Background The Residence at 18111 84th Avenue West is currently under construction. Part of the construction includes the use Simpson Strong -Tie HD713 and HD12 hold-downs for seismic and wind loads. We understand that these anchors did not receive inspection during their installation. Thus, load testing of the anchors was required for permissible use. Test Procedures There were approximately eight H D713 and eight HD12 anchors installed; two of each (approximately 25%) were selected for testing in -A. conjunction with the contractor based on accessibility. The test load was applied via a calibrated Enerpac RCH-302 thru-hole hydraulic ram and digital gauge assembly (shown right). In accordance with ASTM E3121 load testing procedures, we also used a reaction beam to distribute the load away from the substrate in which a failure cone could develop. We understand the HD713 anchors prescribed a test load of 5,600 pounds -force (lb-f), while the HD12 anchors were prescribed a test load of 20,000 lb-f. All anchors were tested at their prescribed loads for 5 minutes or until failure, whichever came first. big Anchor Load Testing Setup Test Results All anchors tested held their required loads for the minimum 5-minute duration without failure or indication of overstress.
