On February 17, 1981, the Edmonds City Council passed
Resolution 488 for construction, reconstruction, and repair of
deteriorated sidewalks. A letter dated.March 16, 1981 was.sent to
residents that were required to repair the sidewalk abutting their
property. The improvement of sidewalks in need of repai:r at the
expense of the abutting property owner is.provided by City
Ordinance, Chapter 7.20 and Revised Code of Washington, Chapter
35.68.
The areas ndeding repair have been marked in paint on the
sidew alk adjoining your property. Reconstruction permits must ' be
obtained from the Building Department at 501 Bell -Street within 30
days upon receipt of this certified.letter.. The fee for the
sidewalk repair has been waived�by the City of Edmonds. In the
event these.improvements are not completed within ninety . (90) days.
upon receipt of this certified letter, the City will employ a
private contractor to perform the designated repairs aiid the City
will bill the abutting property owner.
This, action is in response to many citizen requests and
pedestrian.falling accidents which have-been.increasing in recent
years as. a result of sidewalk deterioration and increased
pedestrian traffic.
