RE: 18606 Sound View Place, BLD2019-0705
Cedric:
This memo summarizes my responses to the various structural items shown on the City of Edmonds
Corrections Notice dated September 30, 2019.
Sheet Comment and Response
1) Sheets S2. 0, S2. 1, S2. Z S3. 0 and S3. 1 require clarifications/corrections.
It is our understanding that addressing items 2-10 adequately addresses this
comment.
S2.0 2) The foundation for the remaining deck is not clearly identified on the plans. Provide
details/ calculations for the foundation for the deck.
We have revised the drawings to ensure that new versus existing foundation are
properly drawn and accurately reflect the plan. It is our understanding that apart
from the short, L-shaped section of retaining wall in the storage area and the
existing house foundation, no existing foundation is being used structurally. Along
the west side, both levels of deck will bear on new concrete footings and pipe piles
per 9/S1.0, 2/S3.0 and 4/S3.0. Along the north side, the deck will bear on the new
foundation and (2) pad footings per 1 /S3. 0 and 11 /S3.0.
S2.1 3) The second storage appears to still be part of the scope of work for this project.
Please correctIclarify1ornit this structure if it is still part of the scope of work to be
done.
This element has been deleted
S2.1 4) The foundation for the proposed deck appears to be still part of the proposed
storage foundation. Is the same foundation that isAvas being used for the new
storage area still being used for the deck that is still to remain? Clarify/correct the
foundation to the deck that is to remain as part of this project. Provide
correctionsIdetails for the foundation to be constructed for portion of the deck that
is affected with the omission of the storage for this project.

BUILDING DEPARTMENI

Apart from the existing house foundation, the new deck and storage area will all sit
on new foundations. There is a short, L-shaped section of retaining wall in the
storage area will remain but does not support any new structures. With the
omission of the storage unit foundation, a new pad footing has been added. Please
reference 1/S3.0.
S2.2 5) Please omit the storage from this sheet if it is no longer part of the scope of work
for this pi ct
This element has been deleted.
S2.2 6) Detail bug 31S3. I and 41S3. 1 shows that this is still a component of the omitted
structure of this project Clarify1correct or omit this please.
These elements are no longer within the project scope; therefore, these callouts
and details have been deleted.
S3.0 7) Detail 7 shows that there is a wall being constructedlattached to the foundation. If
this foundation is part of the design please correct the detail so that it reflects the
work that is being done.
Detail 7/S3.0 is no longer within the project scope and therefore has been deleted.
SM 8) Details 3 and 4? Please remove theses from the plans if is no longer part of the
scope of work.
These elements are no longer within the project scope; therefore, these callouts
and details have been deleted.
SM 9) Detail 8 is called out on sheet 2.0. Please provide the detail that is missing on this
sheet.
I am unable find an 8/S3.1 detail cut on S2.0. However, there is a detail cut for
8/S3.0 which appears correct.
SM 10) Detail 11. To meet section 1607.8. 1. 1 and 1607.8.1.2 of the 2015 IBC. Identify this
on the plans so that the proposed lattice screen meets the intent of the code.
The lattice is no longer within the project scope. 11 /S3. 1, which is a cut at the
upper deck edge, including the new deck roof columns, has been revised to depict
the guard system shown in 9/S3.1.
