This memo summarizes my responses to the various structural items shown on the City of Edmonds
Corrections Notice dated September 7, 2018.
aheet Comment and Response
A1.2 7e) Provide on the plaits a detail, and a reference to it, for the ininiinum proposed
construction to extend the existing porch as required to provide the turning space
per ICC A 117.1-2 009 Section 304.3. Corresponding information could not be
found elsewhere among the construction documents.
The post at the existing porch has been moved east to accommodate the
necessary turning space. Please refer to Attachment A for the corresponding porch
beam calculation.
S1.0 16) General Structural Motes - Xote 2 - Design Loading Criteria: Floor Live Load -
Clarify on the plaits the indicated occupancy or usefor the design of the project.
While more specifically noted as fixed seats'(typically usedfor auditoriums,
movie theaters, etc.) in the provided structural calculations and greater than that
anticipated, such asfor 'offices'. it appears to be less than that requiredfor
portions ofthe exisfingfloor where the change of occupancy results in different
loading. Ofparticular concern is thefloorfi-atning supporting the 'Relail' and the
'LobbylReception'areas and their corresponding loads per IBC Table 160 7. 1 -
see also plan review comment '18'.
Existing framing has been reported in areas supporting retail, and additional
framing has been called out for where necessary. The associated loading criteria
has also been updated in the general notes. Please refer to Aftachment A for the
corresponding beam calculations.
